SHILLONG: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has asked the senior leaders of the Congress to reconsider their decision to not contest the upcoming Assembly elections.
Three senior leaders — MPCC president DD Lapang, Deputy Chief Minister RC Laloo and Health and Family Welfare Minister Roshan Warjri — have backed out from the electoral race citing personal reasons.
Replying to a motion moved by PN Syiem, Sangma also took the opportunity to request the senior leaders to contest the election as the party would miss their wealth of experience.
