Independent MLA writes to CEO on poll date

SHILLONG: Independent MLA from Mowkaiaw, Robinus Syngkon has shot off a letter to the Meghalaya chief electoral officer requesting election should not be held on Saturday.
The MLA is also set to write a similar letter to the chief election officer of the Election Commission of India.
Syngkon said voters in Mowkaiaw constituency and believers of Seventh Day Adventist in the state would be affected if the Assembly election is held on Saturday.
He said most of the people would not participate in the elections if they are held on Saturday as it is Sabbath day for them.
