SHILLONG: HSPDP legislator K P Pangniang has urged the government to give a clarity on the three sets of maps being used in the State.
During the question hour on Thursday, Pangniang said that besides the map issued by GSI, another map is used in Secretariat and the third one was issued by Revenue and Disaster Management department.
The Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Revenue and Disaster Management RC Laloo said that the sketch map of Meghalaya supplied by the department through the letter on May 19 this year can be considered as valid and official.
However, the legislator pointed out that in the map being used by the election department, there are no mention of 12 areas of difference and the disputed areas are excluded.
He said there is a need to correct the mistakes in the sketch map of Meghalaya.
The deputy chief minister said that the points raised by the legislator will be examined.
