SHILLONG: Former ANVC-B leader, Bernard N Marak has asserted he would contest the 2018 Assembly elections from two constituencies. “If Mukul Sangma can contest from two constituencies, I will also contest from two constituencies – that is South Tura and North Tura constituencies,” he said here on Tuesday.
In a statement, Marak said Tura is a hill constituency which was under threat of being made a general/open seat and this is the reason why Tura was divided into North and South Tura constituencies.
He claimed the attempt to drag him down during the council election will not work in the Assembly polls.
“2018 will be the year of political transformation, social transition and a progressive venture into corruption-free governance in the hills. Hill’s rights have been grossly violated by former political leaders which need massive ramification,” Marak said.
Expressing confidence, he said would win these seats by a huge margin. “The people of Tura has to observe, judge and vote for change,” he said.
