JOWAI: The United Democratic Party (UDP) is to lose members in west Khasi Hills.
Firstborn Manar, who lost the last JHADC bypoll from War East on UDP ticket, and his supporters are supporting NPP candidate Stephanson Mukhim.
Manar and his supporters will join NPP soon.
“We don’t like the UDP candidate, Lahkmen Rymbui, therefore we have decided to quit the party,” said a press release sent by D. Syngkor. There were three candidates — a former president of West Jaintia Hills district Congress Committee who will contest on United Democratic Party ticket, Independent MLA Stephanson Mukhim from NPP and former MLA RL Tariang from BJP — in the fray.
