TURA: Another aspiring NPP candidate from Garo Hills has resigned from the party over failure to get the party ticket and is now set to contest the upcoming assembly elections as an independent candidate.

Nehru D Sangma from Rongronggre village in West Garo Hills who applied for an NPP ticket to contest from 56-Gambegre Constituency resigned from the party along with over 3000 of his supporters on Friday.

In his resignation to the District President of the NPP in West Garo Hills Sangma said that he was disappointed by the party’s decision not to allot him a ticket. “I had great expectations to get the party ticket to contest the elections. My name had already been sent to the high command but the ticket was given to someone else after all I had done for the party,” Sangma said.

Earlier, the NPP released its fourth list of candidates which named Philipole Marak as its candidate for 56-Gambergre constituency.

Recently, Pilne Sangma, who had applied for NPP ticket for Rangsakona and Satto Marak for Baghmara also resigned and joined the Bharatya Janata Party (BJP). While the party ticket for Rangsakona was given to Subir Marak, sitting GHADC MDC, Sengnal Sangma was allotted the ticket for Baghmara.
