MAWKYRWAT: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Mawkyrwat Mandal on Wednesday met South West Khasi Hills deputy commissioner, I. Laloo and demanded that the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) be fully implemented in Mawkyrwat constituency.
BJP Mawkyrwat Mandal spokesperson, Mihsalan K Turnia informed that as of now, implementation of the central scheme was not satisfactory as the Ailang Gas Agency rejected almost all the applicants without giving valid reasons.
“The guidelines of the PMUY scheme clearly mention that the beneficiaries will pay only Rs 1,600 as margin money to the agency.”
“But the Ailang Gas Agency charged Rs 2,100 from the beneficiaries without citing a reason. This is not acceptable,” Turnia said, adding that the party requested the deputy commissioner to take action against the agency.
He also said BJP also requested the deputy commissioner to instruct the agency to set up an office or a shop in Mawkyrwat market so that beneficiaries do not face problems.
“The deputy commissioner has promised to look into the matter,” Turnia said, adding the party would continue to follow up implementation of various schemes in Mawkyrwat constituency.
