MAWKYRWAT: Three Bangladeshis have been arrested from a coal depot in Nongjri in South West Khasi Hills.
A special squad spotted the three persons — identified as Chenen Ch Marak (35) from Mymensing district, Theman N Marak (24) and Billium M Marak (28) from Netrokona district in Bangladesh — during an anti-infiltration drive on Thursday afternoon, police said on Friday.
“During interrogation, they confessed of being Bangladeshi nationals. They work in the coal depot of one person identified as Thiseng M Marak from Khonjoy village,” sources said.
The trio confessed that they were illegally staying in Nongjri-Nonghyllam area for quite some time now, the sources added.
The arrested men were handed over to Nonghyllam police and a case under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act was registered.
