8 sitting legislators to resign today

SHILLONG: Eight sitting MLAs will resign from their posts on Friday.
The eight legislators include Sniawbhalang Dhar (Nartiang), Comingone Ymbon (Raliang), Hopeful Bamon (Sutnga Saipung), Stephanson Mukhim (Amlarem), Prestone Tynsong (Pynursla), Remington Pyngrope (Mawkynrew), Rowell Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat) and Ngaitlang Dhar (Umroi).
They will submit their resignation letters to the Assembly Speaker.
All the MLAs will formally join the National People’s Party during a public rally on January 4.
Of the eight legislators, five are Congress leaders, one belongs to UDP while two are Independents.
Chief Minister Mukul Sangma has already downplayed the desertion of the MLAs, saying it would not affect the party in the upcoming polls.
