Infant dies in EJH after vaccination

JOWAI: A one and a half month old baby girl allegedly died after BCG vaccination at Narwan Sub-health Centre in East Jaintia Hills.
According to sources, the mother, Rimaya Chullet of Narwan village, took the infant to the sub-health centre on December 20 where a nurse vaccinated her with two doses of BCG, which is given against tuberculosis.
Sources close to the family said the baby was normal when she was taken for vaccination but two to three hours after the vaccination, the baby started to have fever and died around 3am on December 21.
The baby’s mother lodged a complaint with Khliehriat police. Postmortem has been done and investigation is on.
