New music album speaks of Khasi tradition, culture

SHILLONG: The debut music album of DJ Wankhar, Pynieng La Ka Daw, was released in the city on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, editor of The Shillong Times Patricia Mukhim said many songs in the album highlight the tradition and culture of the state and its people. She hoped that the songs would inspire people, especially youths, to overcome various challenges in the society. Mukhim also expressed concern over the growing number of youths getting into drug addiction.
While making a clarion call for community spirit, Mukhim stressed on the need for a strong peer to overcome such challenges.
Another columnist, Dominic Wankhar, said music is a universal language with no boundaries and hidden talents needed to be discovered.
Earlier, DJ Wankhar while dedicating the album to his late father said there is optimism at the end of his songs.
“The Khasi Students’ Union has also contributed in the making of this album… If you appreciate my music, I will be more than happy,” he added.
The price of the album is Rs 200.
