SHILLONG: The Mawsynram Constituency Development Society (MCDS) has threatened to file a public interest litigation against Pynshngain N Syiem for his untimely resignation as MLA from Mawsynram constituency.
In a statement issued by MCDS president Diralson Dkhar, the society said it may file PIL against Syiem, who is also the chief executive member of the KHADC, as he has completed only 4 years and 9 months in office as MLA instead of five. Syiem tendered his resignation on December 15.
Dkhar questioned the move to resign early as to whether it will benefit the public or him and demanded that he should clarify to the media.
Asserting that Syiem disregarded the decision of the electorate, Dkhar said voters should reject him in the 2018 polls.
MCDS is supporting Congress candidate HM Shangpliang.
