LJP State president threatened with defamation suits

SHILLONG: The four Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) candidates who resigned from the party threatened to file defamation case against the state president of LJP, Jamil Ahmed following his accusations that they resigned as the party could not meet their monetary demands.

The members told reporters that Ahmed accused the four candidates- Toni Marbaniang (North Shillong), Denis Tynsiar (Pynursla), Arelitha Sangma (Selsella) and Banrilang Jungai (Jowai) of demanding Rs 20-Rs25 lakh.

The four sent their resignation letter on January 3, 2018. The four will individually file defamation case and are currently not associated with any party after their resignation from the party.

It may be recalled that Ahmed, in a press statement asserted that four candidates resigned because “the party could not meet their monetary demands” adding that they demanded Rs 20- Rs 25 lakhs.
