SHILLONG: New Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Celestine Lyngdoh observed that the forthcoming state assembly election was not only about parties fighting together but contest of ideologies.

Addressing the gathering on Friday at an official programme organised at Congress Bhavan, he said that the values of the Congress would not change even with the arrival of new team in the MPCC.

“The values of the Congress is to respect the culture and every group, to bring prosperity,” he said, adding that reshuffle in the MPCC has brought a new team.

According to him, the secular ideology is under threat and maintained that only Congress could protect the secular fabric of the country. “We have to join hands together, the next government will be the Congress government,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma called upon the Congress legislators and Congress functionaries to cooperate and support one another.
