SHILLONG: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced the names of four candidates who will contest the forthcoming Assembly election in the state scheduled to be held early this year.

Addressing the press conference on Monday, state president of AAP, Wanshuwa Nongtdu said that the party will field Wonder Lapang (Umsning), Peter Dohkrut (Mawlai), Dedrict Binong (Nongpoh) and Doross Ramsiej (Mawkyrwat).

Expressing confidence of winning the Assembly elections, Nongtdu said that the party would contest in 35 seats. He further added that many more candidates had expressed their willingness to join party.

He added that the second list would be out anytime soon and appealed to candidates to come forward with their names.

“We don’t have famous names but we do have good retired officers and qualified persons with us”, Nongtdu said.

Referring to other parties he said that Congress and BJP would not make much impact while he predicted that National People’s Party (NPP) might win a few seats.
