SHILLONG: The KSU Mawryngkneng circle has said it has received complaints of local labourers not getting employment in the wake of contractors and sub-contractors allegedly roping in workers from outside the state.
In this connection, the students union, led by the general secretary of Mawryngkneng circle, Shiningstar Kharbihkhiew, checked the work permits and other documents of the labourers in Mawryngkneng.
The union members found that in Sohryngkham Mawlyndep, some labourers were working and residing without work permits/labour licences and other relevant documents.
The KSU also found that the labourers received certificates from the dorbar shnong in order to get employment in the village.
In this connection, the KSU has urged the dorbar shnong to be vigilant and strictly adhere to the rules with regard to the influx of illegal immigrants.
