SHILLONG: Meghalaya has a total number of 18,30,104 voters out of the total projected population of 35 lakh as per the final electoral roll published on Wednesday.

Out of the total over 18 lakh voters, the 9,23,848 women candidates have outnumbered their male counterparts (9,06256).
Kharkongor said no third gender has found place in the electoral rolls. “No one from the third gender came forward to enroll,” he said.
There is an increase of 3,27,595 voters, which is 21.8 per cent more compared to 2013 when the state had 15,02,509 voters.
There are 42,843 new voters between the age group of 18 and 19 after the enrolment from October to December last.
In addition to this, last year, there were 45,569 new voters.
The maximum enrolment was in Mawshynrut constituency with 2,123 registering their names and the minimum inclusion was in West Shillong constituency with 316 new voters.
The Assembly constituency with the maximum number of voters is Mawlai (42,780) and the constituency with minimum voters is Dalu with 18,359.
Due to lack of documents and incomplete filing of Form 6, the applications of as many as 6,645 persons were rejected. “However, they are free to apply again,” Kharkongor said.
The names of as many as 8,276 voters were deleted from the electoral rolls due to shifting of voters from one place to another and dead voters.
The number of polling stations is 3,082, which is an increase of 597 (24.02 per cent) from 2,485 in 2013.
The district election officers have been asked to circulate the copies of the final electoral rolls among political parties.
