Srinagar, Jan 12 (IANS) Indian and Pakistani troops on Friday traded heavy gun and mortar fire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Defence Ministry sources said the Pakistan Army violated the 2003 ceasefire in Kamalkote area in Uri sector.

“They used automatics, small arms and mortars to target Indian positions. Our troops retaliated strongly and effectively,” an official said. “There is no report of any casualty or damage so far on our side.”

The winding LoC divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
