SHILLONG: The Congress “is spreading poison” by calling BJP a communal party, said Sanbor Shullai on Sunday.
Shullai, who recently joined BJP from NCP, said the saffron party respects all religion and the Congress was calling it communal for political gains.
The MLA also questioned the state government’s decision to suddenly start the scheme to distribute Rs 5,000 before the election. “Where was this scheme four years ago,” he told a gathering at a meeting
Former minister AL Hek, who was present at the meeting, claimed that BJP will win the election with a big margin because “people want change”.
“We believe that we are all human beings and there is no difference between Khasis, non-Khasis, Muslims, Hindus and Christians,” Hek said while talking about BJP’s secular image. Hek also urged people who offer basic services, like electrician, to have an office that would help in locating them in time of need.
“People often find it difficult to locate electricians. So having an office will enable people to locate them. Also, if you have an office, electricians can be given skill (development) training,” he said.
