Rhino shot dead in Kaziranga Park

GUWAHATI: Poachers shot dead a female rhino in Kaziranga National Park in Assam on Sunday night but failed to take away the horn as forest guards alerted by sound of gun shots challenged the poachers by retaliatory firing.

Park sources informed that the rhino was killed near a forest camp in Bagori Range of the National Park. The carcass with the horn intact was recovered by forest staff.
