SHILLONG: The land bank Committee set up for the National Games, 2022 met here on Thursday to discuss the availability of land for holding various aquatic games
The working president of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, John F Kharshiing said that the meeting discussed about identification of land even as he added that committee earlier did conducted inspections for the land where they were planning to construct necessary infrastructure for the game.
“Our first priority is community land,” he said.
However, the government is facing some issues as far as holding aquatic sports as they need a swimming area of one kilometer and other infrastructures.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Urban Affairs department.
It may be mentioned that Meghalaya recently signed the “Host City Contract” for hosting the 39th National Games 2022, which will also coincides with Meghalaya’s 50th statehood .
