SHILLONG : A person received a fake Rs 500 note while booking a vehicle at night.

Speaking to The Shillong Times on conditions of anonymity, the person said that he booked a vehicle at night from Police Bazaar till Pynthorumkhrah for Rs 500 as he also had materials to carry along.

Giving Rs 2000 to the driver, the passenger was handed three notes of Rs 500. One of the notes, unfortunately turned out to be a fake one.

It was only after a few days that he found out that he was duped when he asked his wife to buy fish.

The fake note is thicker and greener than the genuine one and has the inscription Children Bank of India instead of Reserve Bank of India.
