NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union has alleged that the livestock scheme from veterinary worth Rs. 1.25 lakh with an aim to distribute for the beneficiaries in Mawshynrut has been utilised by the leaders of the Congress party.
Assistant Education Secretary, Stelius Rongring, told pressmen here that they received a complaint that a group of people in Riangdo market had promised to deposit Rs 5000 in the account numbers of the people.
After enquiry, Rongring came to know that such offer came from Mawshynrut C&RD Block. Then the KSU rushed to the office of the BDO, Mawshynrut C&RD Block T Diengngan to get some clarification.
The BDO told him that it was the scheme of the government under Livestock of the veterinary department which was sanctioned on June, 2017. The KSU members alleged that the BDO mishandled the scheme.
They told him that if the scheme is for the farmers they should call for an application so that the right person can receive the scheme. The KSU also found that those who received the cash were all Congress members.
