Youth leaders from WKH resign

NONGSTOIN: Four leaders of West Khasi Hills based NGO West Khasi National Youth Front (WKNYF) resigned from their post on January 20. The four leaders of the youth front which resigned on Saturday are General Secretary Central body K K Wanniang, President Nongstoin Circle Fillback Lyngdoh, organising secretary Kyntiew Nongphud, Shining Myrthong along with other members. The resigned members said that the main reason for their resignation was because the NGO has no issues to work for the betterment of the people of the district.

KHNAM to launch campaign on Jan 25

SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (K.H.N.A.M) is set to kick-start its poll campaign by holding a public meeting at Mawryngkneng market on January 25. In a statement issued here, KHNAM stated that the leaders of the party will attend the meeting which includes working president and Jaiaw MDC Adelbert Nongrum and president of the party, Pyndapborthiaw Saibon and Moses Kharbithai, party’s candidate. KHNAM has so far announced six candidates- Innocent Shadap from Nartiang, E.K. Kharraswai from Mawkyrwat, Jaiaw MDC Adelbert Nongrum from North Shillong, Ban L Nongbri from Mawlai, Zaachari Shadap from Mawhati and Moses Kharbithai from Mawryngkneng.

BJP to organise public meeting in Jowai

JOWAI: The BJP will organise a public meeting on Tuesday at 11am at Iawmusiang, Jowai. Meanwhile, the Mowkaiaw BJP Mahila organised a public meeting at Madan Pamsna on Friday. It was attended by Nalin Kohli along with State vice-president, David Kharsati, the national executive member of the BJP in-charge Tribal Affairs Singh Mulieh and West Jaintia Hills District president Marki Mulieh. Around 2500 voters of the area attended the meeting.

HANM, HNYF condemn attack on K N Syiem

SHILLONG: Social organisations like Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) and Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) Mawsynram Circle has condemned the murderous attack on Kynpham N Syiem on January 17 at Dangar. Kynpham is the elder brother of PN Syiem, former MLA from Mawsynram who was stabbed by assailants, Pusterwell Disiar and Kyllang Thongni. In this connection, the HANM, Mawsynram circle has urged the candidates contesting the elections to desist their supporters from any acts of poll violence. Meanwhile, HNYF Mawsynram Circle has appealed to authorities investigating the case to take the matter seriously to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.
