JOWAI/SHILLONG: All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi, the party’s star campaigner, will visit Jowai on January 30.
Shillong MP Vincent Pala, who is also the working president of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee, said Rahul has invited all Congress leaders in the district, headmen, Dollois and supporters to attend the rally at Tpep Pale playground.
The BJP is also in the process of finalising the visit of its star campaigner, Prime Minister Narendra Modi,
Modi had launched the BJP campaign last month and addressed a gathering at Polo Grounds.
State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said a proposal was sent to the central leadership for the Prime Minister’s visit to three regions — Khasi Hills, Garo Hills and Jaintia Hills.
Lyngdoh also said party president Amit Shah will campaign again after the recent visit of the leader to Tikrikilla and Shillong.
A media report said Modi will campaign for the BJP candidate in Pynursla but the state leadership said the venue is yet to be finalised.
The Congress’s
campaign committee under the chairmanship of Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh met recently to discuss the party’s campaign strategy.
