Meghalaya Governor to flag off Martyrs Run from Tura

TURA: The Governor of Meghalaya, Ganga Prasad, is making his maiden visit to the Garo Hills this week and will be flagging off a marathon race from Chandmari field to commemorate the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday morning.

The flagging off of the “Run for Martyrs” marathon, organised by the district administration, will commence from 6:30 AM onwards. It will start from Chandmari field and end at the Dikki Bandi stadium in Dakopgre.

Students and elders have all been invited to participate in the marathon for which attractive prizes are being given for male and female runners up to the age of 40 and also for participants above 40 years. Awards are also being given for other special categories, informed West Garo Hills deputy commissioner Ram Singh.
