NPP to contest in 51 seats

SHILLONG: The National People’s Party (NPP) will announce its candidate for the Khliehriat constituency within a week.
NPP State President, WR Kharlukhi said that the party would contest around 51 seats in the upcoming elections even as he expressed confidence that the NPP will get an absolute majority in the polls.
Asked about the party’s expectations about the eight sitting legislators who are contesting on NPP tickets, Kharlukhi said that the party would try its best to ensure that all the eight sitting MLAs emerge triumphant this time too.
The eight legislators include Siawbhalang Dhar (Nartiang), Comingone Ymbon (Raliang), Hopeful Bamon (Sutnga Saipung), Stephanson Mukhim (Amlarem), Prestone Tynsong (Pynursula), Remington Pyngrope (Mawkynriew), Rowell Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat) and Ngaitlang Dhar (Umroi).
