JOWAI: Shillong MP Vincent H Pala has come down heavily on MLAs who deserted the party blaming Chief Minister Mukul Sangma and said the disgruntled leaders should have flagged their problems instead of leaving the party.
“If they found the chief minister unfit even after being in the same party with him for so long, they should have raised their voices instead of leaving the party,” said the MP at a poll campaign at Mowtyrhsiah village in West Jaintia Hills on Saturday.
“You are the one who elected your headman. If you found him unfit, will you run away from your village or you will find ways to replace him? The same should apply in the Assembly. If these MLAs find the chief minister unfit they should find ways and means to replace him instead of leaving the party,” added Pala, who is also the working president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.
The leader said though several allegations have been levelled against the Congress, the electorate should judge what the current government did for the party and the State. Pala also requested the people of Mowkaiaw to vote for Nehimayah Tyngkan and the Congress.
The election campaign at Mowtyrshiah, known as the Dorbar Ki 20 shnong (the dorbar of 20 villages), was attended by local MDC W G Sungoh, MPCC Vice-President James S Lyngdoh, EJHDCC President Phervision Nongtdu, besides hundreds of supporters.
