SHILLONG: Chokpot legislator Bluebell Sangma, who raised the Congress tally to 30 after a by-poll in 2015, is clueless about the reason for denial of ticket to her.
Bluebell is the only sitting legislator who was denied ticket by the Congress.
“I have tried to contact my leaders, but I am yet to receive any feedback”, Bluebell told The Shillong Times.
When contacted, a Congress leader said that Bluebell was denied ticket since the party may be looking at the winnability factor and hence the ticket went to Lazarus Sangma.
The irony is that the Congress allotted ticket to Lazarus, who unsuccessfully contested from Baghmara in 2013 on its ticket.
To a query, Bluebell said, “Lazarus is from Baghmara and I do not know the reason why the party did not allot ticket to me though I had applied for the same”.
According to Bluebell, the voters are also making queries regarding the denial of ticket to her.
Bluebell also remained non committal on whether she would contest the polls.
She had contested and won on a Congress ticket after GNC leader Clifford Marak passed away in 2015.
Clifford’s wife Kalpana Sangma contested the seat unsuccessfully.
The Chokpot seat was often held alternately by Bluebell’s husband, Masonsing Sangma and Clifford.
