SHILLONG: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will release the full list of contesting candidates in a day or two.
The BJP state president, Shibun Lyngdoh, said over phone on Monday that the list will be released soon.
Though four legislators — AL Hek, Sanbor Shullai, Justine Dkhar and Robinus Syngkon — joined the BJP, Lyngdoh said the final decision on ticket allotment will be taken by the central election committee of the party.
According to Lyngdoh, the BJP had not made any assurances to the legislators who joined the party that they would get tickets.
The last meeting of the central election committee was held on January 26 night, Lyngdoh said, adding that since the central leaders were busy finalising the second list for Tripura, the list for Meghalaya could not be released.
Earlier, the first list of candidates for Tripura was released.
