Truck turns over
On January 28 around 1 pm, one truck of 10 Bn Assam Police overturned at Byrnihat. As a result, two personnel sustained injuries and were shifted to GMC, Guwahati.
Accidents
On January 28 around 8 pm, one scooter dashed against the rear wheel of an oil tanker with Assam registration at Umling. As a result, the rider sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Nongpoh.
On January 27 around 12 noon, a truck knocked down one minor boy at Byrnihat. The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CHC Byrnihat for treatment.
On January 26 around 7 pm, one unknown vehicle knocked down three minor girls, Ristimary Kurbah (10), Amita Lyngdoh (9) and Jophika Lyngdoh (5 ) at Umsawriang, Ri Bhoi. The victims sustained injuries and were shifted to CHC Bhoirymbong. Later, Ristimary Kurbah was referred to Shillong.
Trucks seized
On January 27 around 2 am, one coal laden truck evaded the weighbridge at Byrnihat and fled away. Later, the truck was detected and seized at Khanapara. In another incident on the same day, one coal laden truck evaded the weighbridge at Byrnihat and fled away. Later, the truck was found abandoned at 12th mile Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi.
Assault
On January 26, Sumar Thubru lodged a complaint that Just Sungoh assaulted and threatened her with dire consequences at Momallah Nangbah village in West Jaintia Hills.
Extortion
On January 26 around 8.30 pm, four persons in a local taxi extorted money from coal laden trucks at Nongprut village in West Khasi Hills. The police rushed to the spot and arrested two of the accused persons Forester Dkhar (23) and Serosing Kharsyntiew (24) while two of their accomplices managed to escape.
Theft
On January 26, Sandistar G Momin and others lodged a complaint that unknown miscreants stole one Mahindra Bolero Camper belonging to Belapara Baptist Church, Resubelpara (NGH) from the church compound.
On January 25, Chitra Marai lodged a complaint that four masked miscreants armed with a pistol entered a labour camp at Santipur Byrnihat, looted cash of Rs. 20,000 and five mobile phones from the labourers.
On January 23, Ajay Giri lodged a complaint that four miscreants armed with pistols looted cash of Rs. 25,000 and a mobile phone from the staff of M/s Dilsina Passah Filling Station in East Jaintia Hills.
Fraud
On January 22, Tengman N Sangma lodged a complaint that he purchased one royalty for Rs 34,500 from one Henry Marak at Williamnagar Bazar for transportation of coal. Later, he found the royalty to be faked.
