Police detonate abandoned bomb

SHILLONG: Security forces detonated a bomb abandoned in a plastic bag on Saturday.
Police said the samples of splinters were collected for verification.
According to police, information was received in the morning that there was a bomb like material somewhere near Rongre river on the way to  Nengmandal, East Garo Hills.
Immediately, the SF-10 commandos and bomb squad rushed to suspected area to conduct search.
The team examined the areas from Rongon to Cherangre and then proceeded to Nengmandal.
At around 1 pm, they found the plastic bag camouflaged near Rongre river at a river crossing point.
After securing the surrounding area, the bomb was detonated on the spot at around 3 pm.
