SHILLONG: A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released a charge-sheet against the Congress, the latter has now slammed the saffron party   saying accusations are just to tarnish the image of the party before the polls.

Talking to reporters, Congress spokesperson, Ronnie V Lyngdoh said that it was the Congress Government which created more districts besides several blocks and administrative units for faster delivery of development to the people.

Lyngdoh pointed out that militancy was contained in the state as the Congress government created state’s own Special Force (SF-10) so as to ensure that the State did not have to depend only on Central Government for forces since Centre often withdraws its forces and militants often got a chance to regroup.

“This force is managed by our youths and how can the BJP say that we have not created any job,” Lyngdoh said while maintaining that the BJP Government at the Centre has nothing to   show and hence they are trying to mislead people.

Slamming the Union Tourism Minister, KJ Alphons, he said that the saffron BJP often accuses Congress of appeasing people but it was the BJP which was appeasing people of the state by offering Rs 70 crores to the churches and they just wanted to win the votes through this money.

“They think people of Meghalaya have no value.   the value of people of Meghalaya is much more than Rs 70 crore which they are trying to offer,” he said while alleging that   BJP   wants to divide the people of Meghalaya and the nation

“If the state and the country breaks apart, the BJP and their partner NPP will be blamed for it,” Lyngdoh added.

Asserting that the people of the state should reject communal parties like the NPP and   the BJP, he said that the NPP leader Conrad Sangma cheated the people when he used to say that the NPP had nothing to do with the BJP.
