Prof N K Choudhury auditorium Inaugurated at USTM

GUWAHATI: The Educational Research & Development Foundation (ERDF) has dedicated a newly-built state- of-the-art auditorium of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) in the name of Dr Nirmal Kumar Chaudhury, the former Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, in recognition of his immense contribution for the development of education in the region.

This third auditorium of USTM with 200 seat capacity was inaugurated by Prof Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri, former VC, Tezpur University and Prof Akhil Kumar Medhi, former VC, Gauhati University, in the presence of Dr Nirmal Kumar Chaudhury. Mahbubul Hoque, Chairman ERDF and Chancellor, USTM, Dr R K Sharma, VC, USTM, Aseem Kazi, Programme Executive, All India Radio along with faculty members, administrative officials and students of USTM.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri said that it is very important to recognise a great man’s contribution. “ERDF has taken a unique initiative to salute the work of this great educationist.  We have been witnessing that the contribution of great people are recognised after their demise. It is commendable that ERDF has taken the step to appreciate the contribution in the life time of Prof NK Chaudhury”, he said.

Addressing on the occasion, Mahbubul Hoque said, “It is not possible to show our gratefulness to Prof NK Chaudhury. This is a small gesture to express our gratitude to our mentor, guide and well-wisher. We believe that his name will be remembered and taken by generations to come”. He also said that USTM and its parent organisation ERDF will continue this mission to give recognition to those academicians and educationist who has immense contribution to the development of education and research in this region.

In his address, Prof N K Chaudhury stated that it was a very exceptional moment of his life and expressed his gratitude to ERDF and especially to Mahbubul Hoque, the Chancellor of USTM and Chairman ERDF. On the same occasion, the ‘PhD Operational Manual’ of USTM was also launched which will help and guide the research scholars since their admission till award of the degree.
