BSF keen to start retreat ceremony with BGB in March

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force (BSF) is keen to start the retreat ceremony between BSF and BGB at  Dawki in March.

A BSF official said that the BSF is pressing hard to see that the retreat ceremony begins at the earliest and the Bangladeshi counterparts have informed the BSF that the proposal for the   retreat ceremony has been approved by their Government and it’s just a matter of time when the ceremony begins.

It may be mentioned that Dawki is already one of the favourite tourists’ destinations in Meghalaya. The place has a border check point and it is used by many tourists to cross over to India as well as Bangladesh.

Apart from retreat ceremony, BSF is also coming up with other infrastructure for tourists such as cafeteria , place to sit besides BSF would also exhibit its weaponry and movie on the force   before the tourists who would visit the area.

The BSF official also said that it is high time for investors to invest in Dawki and build infrastructures like hotels and restaurants for the visiting tourists.

Meanwhile, Governor Ganga Prasad visited Dawki  on Tuesday and inaugurated the Maitri Dwar, a gate of friendship between India and Bangladesh.

The Governor also inaugurated a Border Observation Post (BOP) at Umsyiem,

Ganga Prasad also met the regional commander and officers of Border Guards Bangladesh  and took the guard of honour

Later, the Governor also addressed the troop of the Border Security Force and distributes sweets to both the troops at the Integrated Check Post.
