Fr. Abong passes away

TURA: One of Garo Hills much loved Salesman priest who kept close ties with the youth and was a regular visitor of homes to interact with families in both Tura and the villages has passed away.
Rev. Fr. Anthony Abong B Marak passed away in a hospital in Guwahati on Monday night. He was 49.
Fondly called Father Abong by one and all, he was renowned for his close ties with the youth of Garo Hills.
Although not a player himself, Fr Abong actively associated himself with the Garo Hills Taekwondo association as a member of the body.
During his college days he was crowned Mr NEHU while studying at the North Eastern Hill University headquarters in Shillong.
He is best remembered for his light humor and daily interaction with the youth.
Late Fr Abong who was a diabetic had been battling kidney disease for a long time and breathed his last in a Guwahati hospital.
His body is being brought back to Tura where a special church service will be held during his funeral.
His mortal remains are expected to be laid to rest at the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) cemetery in Bosco Mount Rongkhon, Tura.
One of the last foreign missionaries from Italy, Rev. Fr. Batista Busolin who passed away in December 2016 is also buried in the same cemetery along side another Italian priest Rev. Fr. Anthony Bucceri.
