SHILLONG: In keeping with the poll preparedness in the Garo Hills Region, a robust communication set-up has been put in place where Air Ambulance would also be ready for evacuation as per instruction of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
This was discussed in a meeting held to review the poll preparedness of the Garo Hills region by Prakash D, Inspector General of CRPF, Shillong.
In a statement issued by the CRPF, the points that were discussed included that of area domination by CAPF, induction of Coys, deployment at polling Stations, basic amenities for CAPF, Critical Polling Stations, Vulnerable areas, flag marching and confidence building among public.
The IG CRPF directed the officers to re-enforce the deployment in militancy-affected areas and for far-flung polling stations.
Sharing of Intelligence on real time basis was given importance. Cashless medical facilities have been prepared in all the districts for the security forces, so that in times of emergency, instant medical aid may be provided.
Security Forces have been directed to be firm in their duties, but at the same time be polite.
As per the direction of ECI, 100 Coys have been allotted for the Assembly Election of Meghalaya.
Out of which 25 have already been deployed. The rest of 75 Coys would be inducted very soon. An elaborate induction plan has also been finalized.
The meeting was attended by JPK Ray, DIG, CRPF, Range Guwahati, B C Dalbehera, Commandant 120 Bn, CRPF all Nodal Officers from East Garo Hills. It has also been attended by Rishikesh Meena, IPS, Police Observer from East Garo Hills.
