TUR charter
A working people’s charter will be submitted to all political parties by TUR along with 10 unions and associations. The charter highlights various demands for which they are seeking commitments from the candidates going into the 2018 electoral battle. A press conference will be held at Shillong Club on Wednesday at 1pm after which they will be going to individual parties to submit the same.
Dry day
With a view to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of the General Election to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly which will be held on February 27, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), South West Khasi Hills District has declared February 25, 26 and 27 (being the period inclusive of forty eight hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of Poll) and on March 3 (being the day for counting of votes) as dry days within the whole district. Therefore, all liquor shops/Bars/Canteens/Hotels and outstill stalls will remain close on the mentioned days.

To facilitate better election management, the District Election Officer, South Garo Hills has set up an online application Samadhan, Suvidha and Sugam for candidates and political parties to apply permissions relating to meetings, rallies, vehicles etc. Sugam is a vehicle management system with the facility of issuance of requisition letters for vehicles, capturing vehicles etc. Besides complaints relating to the election expenditure and violation of model code of conduct, the election control room has also been setup in South Garo Hills District at DC office room no 14.
