SHILLONG: The BJP President, Amit Shah on Friday   claimed that the BJP, if comes to power, would turn Meghalaya into a model and corrupt-free state in 5 years.

Addressing an election rally of the party here at Malki ground, Amit Shah continued his attack on the Congress-led State Government saying    Meghalaya has seen scams   after scams in last ten years under the Mukul Sangma Government

Asserting that   there were scams in recruitment of teachers and police, Shah alleged that the Government was making records in corruption

“There is 70 percent shortage of doctors in in rural health centres and even tourism is not picking up,” he said while claiming that the   number of young boys and girls committing suicide in the state has gone up by 45 percent whereas the crime against women and children in the state has gone up by 30 percent.

He also alleged that large scale corruption in the Public Distribution system and even PDS sugar was being sent outside the state

According to   Shah, the acceptance of BJP is increasing in the North Eastern state even as he made a clarion call to throw the   Mukul Sangma Government in Meghalaya and replace it by BJP

Referring to recent statement of Mukul Sangma where he asked BJP to give an account of their contribution in Meghalaya, Shah stated that the BJP had done more in the last four years in comparison to 45 years of Congress rule.

Shah also gave figures saying   Meghalaya was allotted Rs 5817 crores under the 13th Finance Commission by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre whereas BJP-led NDA Government allotted Rs 25400 crores to Meghalaya under the 14th Finance Commission

“Despite this huge increase in fund allocation, do you see development in Meghalaya but you look at the houses of the Congress leaders. Earlier they had ordinary homes but now they live in mansions,” he said

Giving details of the schemes allotted for Meghalaya, he said that Rs 463 crores had been allotted for MUDRA, whereas Rs 600 crores had been allotted for UDAY scheme besides other schemes.

Asking people to join hands with BJP and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, he also lamented that the traffic congestion was ever increasing in Shillong.

He also stated that BJP would work to connect every single village in Meghalaya with roads besides making Meghalaya the biggest tourism destination.
