SHILLONG: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate from Mawhati, Tyngshain Lapang who is also the nephew of Congress veteran, D D Lapang said that Congress had lost its rhythm.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Tyngshain said that the electoral fight in the Mawhati constituency is among the candidate of National People’s Party (NPP), UDP and NCP.
Turning to the challenges of the constituency, he said that 80 per cent of the constituents are farmers and said that he would put agricultural development as a priority, cottage and small scale industries, education were in the lists of his development activities.
Asked on the position of Mawhati’s former legislator, Julius Dorphang who is currently in jail, Tyngshain said, “It is the mandate of the people, if he (Dorphang) is re-elected. I leave it to the wisdom of the people.”
However, he claimed that Dorphang did not have the majority support with him. “It is wrong to say that there are majority of people who are supporting him (Dorphang),” he said.
