4 ULFA-I cadres arrested in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati: Based on preliminary inputs by higher headquarters regarding presence of suspected over ground workers (OGW) in general area Malugaon, the Changlang Battalion of security forces under the aegis of Dao Division, launched a special operation on Friday morning.

During the operation cordoned and searched the suspected area where four over ground workers (OGW) of ULFA (I) were apprehended. They were identified as: Pradeep Barua (31), Rupam Rajvanshi (27), Munna Shah (20) and Diganta Gogoi (27), all residents of Tinsukia district in Assam. They were found with one .22 pistol.

During the on spot interrogation, the group confessed to supplying weapons from Dimapur (Nagaland) to Sadiya/Kakopathar (in eastern Assam) and were previously involved in looting, smuggling and extortion of local populace. The apprehended were being handed over to Margherita Police Station and FIR was lodged.

This Operation is part of the ongoing crack down by security forces on the terrorist organisations active in south Arunanhal Pradesh wherein there have been several apprehensions and the underground cadres have been neutralized in past few weeks.
