TURA: Education Minister Deborah Marak has condemned the murder of her political opponent Jonathone Sangma on Sunday night and demanded CBI inquiry.
Sangma and three others were killed in an IED blast triggered by suspected GNLA militants in a remote village in Samanda under Williamnagar constituency.
Marak had defeated Sangma in the 2013 elections from the same constituency. After the polls, there were allegations against Marak that she used GNLA to intimidate voters against Sangma.
“This has been a cold-blooded murder and I strongly condemn this heinous crime. I am demanding a CBI inquiry because only then will the truth come out,” Marak told The Shillong Times in Williamnagar.
Meanwhile, Marak, through her election agent, has filed a police complaint against a group of social media users who has been blaming the Congress for the death of the NCP candidate.
