TURA: Police in East Garo Hills have recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) presumably left behind by GNLA militants after the killing of NCP candidate from Williamnagar, Jonathone N Sangma on Sunday night.

According to East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, R T G Momin, after getting inputs about movement of GNLA militants in Rambogre area SF-10 commandos operating in the area rushed to the site where they came across a GNLA hideout. The militants on seeing the team approaching fled and police had to restrain fire due to civilian presence.

More teams were pressed into combing operations during which one of the teams came across an IED before day-break. The IED was disposed of immediately and operations were on in the area, the SP said.
