SHILLONG: Irked at the “wagging tail of a dog” comment made by Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor, the BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli demanded an apology from Tharoor and the Congress party.
He said that the language used by Tharoor while referring to regional parties as a wagging tail of a dog and thereby referring to the BJP as a dog, literally, is unacceptable, terrible and condemnable language.
“BJP has received votes from people. Is it not an insult to the voters? Even the people of Meghalaya also voted for the BJP,” he said.
He added that the BJP would expose the malgovernance of the Congress with its unkept promises and lack of work whereas the BJP will continue with its agenda on development.
On the other hand, Kohli took a dig at the Congress for releasing the manifesto at the penultimate hour and make similar promises that the BJP had done in its vision document like promising new jobs.
“The very fact that they are now acknowledging that the Rs 5 lakh central scheme is worth implementing shows that their own agenda is hollow,” Kohli said.
“By choosing not to answer any questions in a press conference when the manifesto was released is an open acknowledgement that they are worried of their own track record and are somewhere embarrassed that they are making yet another set of promises for the next five years without delivering on the promises of the preceding three elections,” he added
Asked on death of GNLA self-styled commander in chief, Sohan D. Shira, Kohli lauded the Meghalaya police which, he observed, was successful as there was no political interference.
Stating that the political will to catch hold of the militant did not exist earlier, he said that the death of NCP candidate, Jonathone Sangma shattered the false claim of the state government that the militancy had been eliminated.
