Shillong: NPP president of NPP Conrad K Sangma’s chopper entered its last leg on Friday with a campaign at Siju- Rongara constituency, along the international border with Bangladesh.
Seeking support for party candidate Rakkam Sangma, Sangma urged the voters not to be misguided by false propaganda and claims of opponent candidates, who, he said, will promise the moon but disappear after elections.
He reminded the electorates of the under development in South Garo Hills and promised to provide thrust on improving road and telecommunication in the district which has vast tourism potentials.
“The wave of NPP is being felt strongly. People have come together from all regions to support NPP. Let us pledge that together, we will be able to realise the dreams of our late leader Purno Sangma,” Conrad said, while urging the voters to vote for NPP.
He addressed two rallies in Siju- Rongara in South Garo Hills, and two in West Garo Hills at Miliem under Gambegre constituency and Eden Bari under North Tura constituency. He was also joined by his mother Soradini K. Sangma for the two rallies in West Garo Hills.
“There is no accountability of schemes and programmes being implemented by the current Congress government. The government has not been able to provide equitable development. There is economic disparity and Mukul Sangma has failed to ensure growth and process in Meghalaya. If they are allowed to form the next government, Meghalaya will be left behind and we will not be able to catch up with other states”, he said at the rally at Milliem, where he sought people’s support for Phillipole D. Marak.
At Eden Bari, Conrad termed North Tura candidate Thomas Sangma as one of the most able leaders of Meghalaya and added that Thomas has an experience as member of the Rajya Sabha will be a bonus for the electorates of North Tura.
Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur Yumnam Joykumar Singh will join the NPP campaign on Saturday along with the party chief.
