Over Rs 12 lakh seized in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: Election authorities in Ri Bhoi district have seized cash amounting to over Rs 12 lakh from two separate locations on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner CP Gotmare said the Static Surveillance Team seized cash amounting to Rs 12,39,600 on Saturday of which Rs 5.96 lakh was seized from the occupant of a car and Rs 1,00,000, Rs 1,43,600 and Rs 4,00,000, amounting to Rs 6,43,600, was seized from three different persons in Jorabat.
Gotmare added that the matter will be referred to the income tax officials for further action as per the Election Commission’s directions.
