TURA: Independent candidate from South Tura Anamika J G Momin has filed an FIR over the incident of bridge collapse at A’konggre locality in Tura in which several persons in a vehicle were injured.
The incident took place on February 26 when the vehicle, an SUV owned by Momin, was crossing the bridge located on the Tura Market-A’konggre-Dobasipara Road. The weak bridge collapsed plunging the vehicle into the ditch below.
Passengers and the driver were injured.
“It is to be noted that the accident is due to the careless attitude of the department concerned that did not even put up a sign indicating that it was a weak bridge. The status of the subway bridge can be ascertained even by a layman, that it was not suitable for thoroughfare. But neither the department concerned nor the authorities acted,” the FIR filed with the officer in-charge of Tura police station stated.
