Man injured while saving daughter from eve-teasers
SHILLONG: A father was injured while protecting his daughter by cat-callers. On Sunday, four persons identified as Pynshainglang Warjri, Enstansing Warjri, Thrangjingkmen Kharumnuid and Likmenlang Warjri teased the daughter of Banteilang Riangshiang at Madan Thangsning, East Khasi Hills. When protested he was assaulted by the culprits. The father was also carrying his four and a half month old baby, who was also injured when they attacked him. They were admitted at Supercare Hospital.

Justice Sen to officiate as Chief Justice
SHLLONG: Judge of High Court of Meghalaya SR Sen will perform the duties of the Chief Justice from Saturday after the retirement of Justice Tarun Agarwala on Friday. A notification in this regard was issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on Tuesday. It was recently on February 12 that Justice Agarwala assumed office as the Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya only to bid farewell on Friday. With this, the High Court of Meghalaya will have only single Judge.

Survey of India celebrates National Science Day
SHILLONG: Survey of India celebrated National Science Day on Wednesday by holding an open house exhibition showcasing their various maps, survey equipment and digitisation processes for school students, teachers and general public. The theme of the day, which is celebrated to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by CV Raman in 1928, was ‘Science and Technology for a sustainable future’ this year. CP Marak, principal chief conservator of Forests and HoFF, inaugurated the progrmme. The schools which participated in the event were Seven Set Secondary School, B K Bajoria School, Loreto Convent, Arya Kanya Vidyalaya Secondary School Laitumukhrah and others.

Shillong Sreehatta Sammilanee general meet
SHILLONG: The first general meeting of Shillong Sreehatta Sammilanee was held at Shillong Jagannath Mandir Auditorium, Thana Road at 11 am on February 25, under the presidentship of Prof. Jayanta Bhusan Bhattacharjee, ex-Vice chancellor, Assam University, Silchar. In the meeting office bearers were also elected.
