AICC points at BJP’s ‘dangerous game’ in NE

SHILLONG: The AICC on Monday wished the people of Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland “peace and progress” under the new governments and at the same time made pithy comments against BJP and its “dangerous game” to usurp power in the North East.
Randeep Singh Surjewala, in charge of communications in the AICC, in a series of tweets has reacted to the new power points in the three northeastern states, said a statement issued to the media on Monday.
Pointing at the political development in Meghalaya, he statement quoted Surjewala as saying, “BJP assumes power with just 2 MLAs, every discordant party that fought BJP and each other, ideologically-politically-electorally, is sewn up to form the Govt at any cost — NPP, UDP, PDF, HSDP, BJP, Ind (Independent). Is this the answer to Meghalaya’s aspirations and a stable Govt (government)?”
He also targeted the CM in waiting Conrad Sangma and NPP saying the party had promised to divide the state and form a separate Garoland.
“Does Mr Sangma propose to carry out the promise on becoming CM? And what is Modiji’s/BJP take on it,” it added.
“BJP is following a dangerous game of destabilisation, subversion and usurpation of power in North East unmindful of the stability, security, peace and progress,” the MPCC statement read.
The AICC also criticised the strategy that the saffron party is following during government formation in Tripura, Nagaland and Manipur.The statement said the BJP aligned with a divisive force in Tripura and in Nagaland, it is forming the government with the NPF but fought the election in alliance with its opposition. It raised questions about the stability of these governments and the BJP’s commitment to the Naga Accord.
“Hope Modiji had cared to learn from Rajivji who put ‘Nation First’ and brought peace to the region through Assam and Mizo accords,” the statement added.
