SSLC examination begins in Meghalaya

TURA: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination of the Meghalaya Board School Education (MBOSE) began on Wednesday with as many as 51316 students sitting for the examination at different examination centres in the state.

 

MBOSE Controller of Examinations, T R Laloo when contacted, said that the examination was functioning with no reported cases of cheating, expulsion or question paper leakages being reported from any of the examination centres in the state. This year there are a total of 78 examination centres in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region while 59 of them are located in the Garo Hills.

 

In this year’s examination, there are a total of 23551 male candidates and 27765 female candidates out of which 9675 males and 12159 female candidates come under the Regular 1 category (schools affiliated to MBOSE) while 5519 male and 6569 female candidates fall in the Regular 2 category (schools unaffiliated to MBOSE).

 

A total of 1021 male and 1080 female private candidates (for 100 marks) are appearing in the examination while under the Non-regular category (candidates who have failed in the last examination), a total of 5126 male and 5305 female candidates are also sitting for the examination.

 

Besides these, 2206 male and 2649 female Compartmental candidates who failed in not more than 3 subjects in the last board examinations are appearing in the examination. In addition, 5 male and 2 female candidates who were not satisfied with their earlier result are also sitting for the examination as Improvement candidates.

 

Meanwhile, the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations touched the second day on Wednesday with the examination commencing a day earlier.

 

In the HSSLC, there are a total of 29840 candidates sitting for the examination at 62 examination centres in Khasi-Jaintia region and 39 others in Garo Hills.

 

A total of 8263 male and 10503 female candidates are sitting for the examination under the Regular category in the Arts Stream, 1434 male and 1165 female under Non-Regular category, 420 male and 616 female under Private category while 334 male and 517 female candidates are appearing as Improvement candidates.

 

In the Science Stream, there are a total of 1595 male and 1809 female candidates under Regular category, 81 male and 77 female under Non-Regular category, 48 male and 47 female under Compartmental category along with 47 male and 20 female Improvement candidates.

 

This year’s Commerce candidates include 1251 male and 808 female candidates under Regular category, 76 male and 22 female candidates under Non-Regular category, 123 male and 42 female candidates under Compartmental category and 2 male and 1 female Improvement candidates.

 

2 male and 4 female candidates are also sitting for the examination in the Vocational Stream.

 

For this year’s HSSLC examinations, there are 62 examination centres in Khasi-Jaintia region while another 39 are located in the Garo Hills.
